SPEAKER_02Yo, what up, what up, what up? This is your boy main event certified legend. This is the Alley U Sports Show, not your ordinary Ally U.
SPEAKER_04And it's your boy Rockstar Q, man. We back again. You already know. But yeah, yo, we got some big, big, big energy today, man. Yo, pops.
SPEAKER_02But wait, hold on, hold on, hold on.
SPEAKER_04Before we get into that, oh we got we definitely gotta shout out our sponsors for that.
SPEAKER_02No, you know, look, because look, look, I remember. Talk to me. When I was younger, you always hearing the radio be like, yo, you know, the bills get paid, gotta shout the sponsors out. So, yo, right now, we shout now. I sponsor for this episode, Shavon Beauty.
SPEAKER_04Yes, yes, yes. You want to keep that melon in there? You know where to go. Tap in, tap in.
SPEAKER_02Tap in. Tap in. S H E V O N. Tap in, tap the barcode. It's that new era. All of that new technology. Y'all know what to do.
SPEAKER_04Shout out, shout out. That's a big shout out right there. Appreciate y'all.
SPEAKER_02But now, that's why we be like, you know what I mean? That's why we be like, Yo, let's get into it. It's something about that Shayvon where I ain't gonna I ain't gonna front. Like, all jokes aside. Like, for real, for real. Talk to me. It seemed like when I use the Sheavon, the the butter, she got she got the butter.
SPEAKER_04She got the butter.
SPEAKER_02She got the butter. But when I use the butter, not the butter, it gets you glistening. No, not even the glistening part. Yeah. It seemed like it takes like five years off me, B.
SPEAKER_04Five years off you? Okay, okay. So it's like I gotta be real, six.
SPEAKER_02At least French Death and Young Spliff and all that. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_04Okay, I like that. I like that. I like that. I like that beautiful.
SPEAKER_02Shout out to Shavon Beauty.
SPEAKER_04Shout out Shayvon Beauty, you know, keeping the keeping us younger.
SPEAKER_02So now look, yo, look, you normally you normally get right into it, but I'm gonna get right into it today.
SPEAKER_05I hear you. I told you.
SPEAKER_02What did I say? What did I say about that new York energy?
SPEAKER_04Hey, it's there. I told you, everywhere they go is like the garden. And last night, you peeped it, you feel me? Jalen Brunson, they tried their hardest to get him out of the game. They fell in his knee, they stepped on his ankle, they did everything they could possibly do, but Jersey kicked in. Hey, New York, New York Knicks. I'm gonna say this one time only. Y'all better thank New Jersey for what's going on. Because it's two Jersey homies. We leading the pack, you hear me? The New Jersey Knicks, you hear me? That's what the pop said last episode. The New Jersey Knicks. You remember New Jersey New York, bro? You know what I mean? You see who leading the pack. But yo, shout out the New York Knicks, man. Y'all really holding it down. Y'all doing something special, man. I already, I could tell, man, this is listen, y'all stole the first game. Shout out, shout out Baby Girl and her fam. You feel me? Listen, what I tell you, what you told me yesterday, the tempo starts. You set the tempo, game one, and the tempo has been set. Wimby knows what he gotta do now. In order for him to be the best, he gotta show up next game. You can't lose two back to back at the crib, because listen, you get to that guard and it's like pandemonium.
SPEAKER_02Coming in the Mecca. Yo, you know, I was watching uh the um the post-game where Carl Towns was uh talking about his feeling. They was asking how did he feel? You know, let's um take this time right here and just uh give a blessing to him. Blessing, yeah. His mom. Blessing, blessing. God rest his mom. He said his his his angel in heaven, the lady above, was watching him and guiding him. He just felt like a kid again. And the key thing he said was he was having fun.
SPEAKER_04He was having fun. That's what it's all about, though. That's what it's all about. Basketball is only good when it's fun. You know, like basketball is something, is you can have fun right now. Like, I'm glad that you're having fun. And if y'all watched the last episode, you know, I mean, I called him sassy. Last night, that was both Dega cat. You feel me? That was the cat that everybody wants to see. That was the cat that was the mimic, that was Jersey for real. He was really showing out, doing what he threw, getting away.
SPEAKER_02But which player better though?
SPEAKER_04Oh, Wimby. Wow. Because Wimby Wimby tough, yo. But Wimby is tough.
SPEAKER_02Talking about Wimby. Who you talking about? I'm talking about aye, so you said. Who you talking about? Yesterday we said sassy Cassie. But but you show me the cat, whatever. You show me the thing is off. Sassy Cat. That's what we said. Sassy cat, yeah. He does his little, you know what I'm saying? Future was doing that back in the day at Rucker Park, back in the day, dancing with the ball, doing different moves. Now, but the question I'm asking you is you just called him a different name today. What'd you say yesterday? That's Bodega Cat. Yesterday was Sassy Cat. I'm gonna break something down real quick. Yo, this right here is shout out with my man. God rest him, God bless him, Ali Mo. So people who don't know, people who don't know that story with his names, right? So let's so we normally play the late games, the last games. So the first half, it might be dust, sun dust, you know what I mean? Sun ain't dropping yet, it ain't dawn yet. They're calling him Ali Moe. Ali Moe, Ali Moe, Al Cash, Ali Mo, Ali Mo, Duke Tanko, Ali Mo, Ali Moe. But as soon as those lights come on, that means that it's dark now, the black widow comes. Black Widow. That's why I asked you now. Those are two different players. Ali Moe and the Black Widow is totally two different players. Yo, shout out to my street ball homie Ali Moe. God bless you, God rest you. So now back to the question at hand. Which player is better? Bodega. Fantasy cat or Bodega Cat. Bodega Cat is better. We don't need none of the other things.
SPEAKER_04The reason why I say that, the reason why I say that is because, like I said, he wasn't doing all the extra stuff that he normally do. He wasn't uh throwing his body around, making like doing little jerky stuff. He was literally out there hooping. That was hoop, that was hoops. He had Wimby tired. Him and Wimby was holding each other, literally. They Wimby had eight, he had seven. He had 12, he had 11. He had 13, he had 15. They both was going at each other. You feel me? And that's what that's what this is all about. That's what the NBA Final was all about. They brought that, it felt like the old school. It wasn't no, it wasn't no like shooting mad. Like they was shooting a lot of threes.
SPEAKER_02Yo, stop.
SPEAKER_04I mean, they were shooting a lot of threes. They were shooting a lot of threes. So yeah, it was they was getting shots up. They was doing little stuff here and there. But if you really watch the game, shout out Dill, man. That's all I'm gonna say, man. That boy got to it. He is the youngest player in the NBA to score that many points in the playoff game, bro. Like that right there is like, bruh, I don't care. They lost that. That's cool, but he did, he held his own. That's Jersey. He was doing his thing. I supported him all the way through. But Jalen Brunson, man, that boy, the Brunson Burner, he was burning. He was burning, bro.
SPEAKER_02Brunson Burner, and something and something important that you said, you was like, Kat had to get 20.
SPEAKER_04One thing I one thing that I one thing that I realized is in order for the Knicks to win, Kat has to have 20. At least, maybe 17, 18, but he has to get 20 and 10 balls. That's the only way they win. Why? Because they, like my brother, shout out Corey. He literally told me, like, I got what he was saying. Like, Kat brings Wimby out the paint. Yeah. Cat can shoot threes, cat can dribble, cat can do all that. So Wimby is not a threat when it comes to them on the offensive end. So if you run the offense through Kat, Jalen Brunson's gonna do what he needs to do. He had a 30 ball last night.
SPEAKER_02What did I say though? Remember what I said? What? I said you have to bring it to Wimby. You can't, you can't, you gotta bring it at him. Try to do awkward shots or whatever to try to get him in foul trouble. And then, on top of what you're saying, they got him out the paint. They they figured it out. It's gonna get, yo, we said it's gonna be thunder, yo. It's gonna be the this is the thriller in Manila. This is that New York energy, the young crew. We got Jersey on both sides. Like I said, the NBA is lit. Oh, it's not lit.
SPEAKER_04The NBA is lit when the matter what. Like, yo, we was up all night watching the game from start to finish. We was we was in there, in the mix. We saw what was going on. They like, yo, you could tell the energy in the gym. Like, it's different. Like this, this is a different NBA finals. You feel me? It feels like the old times. They brought back the trophy on the court. That was different. I love it. You mean like the energy was different. The energy was like, they have nothing to they was playing for something. You felt it. Like you felt the real, the realness of the finals. You feel me? Nobody getting hurt. If dudes getting hurt, they banging, they playing through it. That's real. Like, you know what I'm saying? Like, if dudes get, like, like, yo, Jalen Brunson could have, he walked off in the back of the locker room. He could have stayed there for as long as he wanted. Nah. He said it's go time. The burner, the burner's about to start burning. And we're about to get right. Because now you see what happened. They couldn't stop him. They put everybody on him. Mr. Rio. We talked about this. You said that they had got four guards. You see what happened. 30 ball walking down. But then, I mean, we ain't got to do too much. I'm trying to tell you, New York is in a good place right now. It's only game one, but the tempo starts in game one. They stole it at the crib. They stole it at the crib. That's a big one. You feel me? At the crib. And this is the first, this is the first series that they started on the road.
SPEAKER_02You know what? You know what? I'm sitting over here and I'm listening to you. And they won 12 straight. This 12 straight in the playoffs. But I'm listening, I'm listening to you, and I'm taking so many things from that. So everything, those attributes you just explained, right? Yeah. Do you know what that's doing for the sport? Like, I get it. They got the technology things, this, that, and the third. But yo, like, watching that game, I'm looking like, wow, man. They said at one time, and one, you know, shout out to my players, my guys. We we was a mirror. The NBA became a mirror of our style. Now they're adding our grittiness now. So it's like I'm looking at it like, yo, this is this is this is doing something for the sport. And once, you know, once again, it's coming through the Mecca, man. It's coming through the Mecca. As we're gonna say that New York, new, New Jersey energy, because I know people was getting on that train, you know what I mean, to go over there to the Mecca. So at the end of the day, this is a marriage. And it's that energy. So now I think that energy is gonna boost all sports. This is not about basketball. Yes, right now it's about the finals, but I'm looking from a different lens. You know what I mean? I'm looking from a lens like, wow, like this is this is really dope, bro. Yeah. You know what I mean? And for me, it's good for me. For me, we always have debates at home, and I'm like, yo, you'll be like, yo, Pops, those are old guy, dah dah dah. But I'm actually able, I'm I'm I'm thankful to go from seeing what we call the greats, now I'm seeing the future greets. And y'all able to explain when I have questions, like, yo, hold up. Nah, but now I'm really seeing it because I'm paying more attention to the game, because I want to be the best person who could deliver. Yeah, who could deliver things that y'all never heard, gonna hear or whatever it is, and keep updated. But I want to ask you this. Do you think, and not only for you, for all the fans out there, fans of the sport, fans of the NBA, whatever team you're rooting for, but right now we're talking about the New York Knicks. And I'm gonna go with this, and I'm gonna say this. Right now we're talking about the New York Knicks, but the question I'm about to ask you is I think they was called the New York Knickerbockers.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, New York Knickerbockers.
SPEAKER_02And do y'all think that the New York Knicks could win a championship? The last time they won a championship was 1973. I wasn't born, I was born in 1974. Do you think? Do y'all think? But I'm actually rockstar cube.
SPEAKER_04Now look, talk to me. If you know you know about the New York Kniggerbockers, you feel me? If you know, you know, shout out Sweetwater. Google them. You hear me? I do this. But at the end of the day, the Knicks, yo, they got an opportunity to do something that people say history repeats itself. You know what I mean? The last time, the last time the NBA finals, with the time they played in the finals, they played the Spurs, 1999. That was Tim Duncan, Duncan, uh, and uh David Robinson. You know what I mean? That was that was a that was the the flow. The Knicks lost, okay. I just think they came back for blood, it's different this time. I feel like it's more on the line. Like, it's more so like this championship is like going back, somebody going back to their hometown and winning a chip for their hometown, for their city, because you know how much it'll mean to them. So this championship is bigger than just the New York Knicks. This for Patrick Ewan, John Stalks, Alan Houston, Latrell Speedrun. 9-11. These for the these for the the yeah, 9-11. These for the these for the fans, I'm telling you, New York fans, one thing I know about them, they stay true to the to the to that orange and blue. That's all I know. Yeah, yo, they're down 18.
SPEAKER_01Just like any other fans, that New York.
SPEAKER_04Like I seen something the other day, the Knicks win the championship, it goes from Penn Station to Brunson Station. You hear me? That's all I know. If the Knicks win the championship, it go from Penn Station to Brunson Station because he wanted them. He really wanted them, man. And it's dope to see that. Yo, he's doing it with his dad as the coach. History. That's fire. History. You know what I'm saying? Rick Brunson. He was the look, the last time the Knicks was in the finals, Rick Brunson was on the floor. Next time they're in the finals, he on the bench. Is it's fire. I love that. It's fire.
SPEAKER_02That lens I look through, right? Yeah. Um they was showing that the, I guess they call it the overflow from watching the watch party. Yeah. Once again, I'm watching, and with so many things going on in the world, God makes no mistakes. I think this is the energy that we need because I saw all walks of life. I forget what park, I don't want to say battery park, I'm not sure, but it had a stage, had the big screen. It was a park in New York City. And um, I was just looking at the people that was out there.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_02You know, it's gonna take sports and entertainment to be a part of bringing world peace, man. Like, like, like, like, like, look at you know, sports in general, the Super Bowls, you know, the Stanley Cups. When if people can come together for those type events, I have hope and I have faith, man. Right now, God is using the New York Knicks, God is using the Spurs, God is using, and we have to seize this opportunity to become a fan, to come a fan who may just want to see a good game, but I'm looking at it from all of those different angles, and I just want to say thank you, God, man. Thank you. Take it for showing people how what you can do with positive energy, man. Don't have oh, it don't always have to be negative energy. What about this today? I heard today's, well not today, but it's it's throwback, throwback Thursday.
SPEAKER_04Throw back Thursday, right? So, so as y'all can see, we got the jerseys on today, right? I got the supersonics. But little do y'all know, this whole situation that I got on is something that like I can't even explain it. Like, you feel me? But I want to go back there, but what's the first one? Now I'm gonna break it down for you. So look, so not here no more. You feel me? But as y'all can see it's say number three. If you really look at the time when they're in that time, it was somebody that um all I'm gonna know is like all I know is that my Pops was exchanging NBA jerseys, right? Pops, I don't know what happened, but look, they was exchanging NBA jerseys, and it just so happened that he exchanged his and one jersey for somebody from the Sonics. Yo, that's crazy. So, Pops, tell me about that, yo. Do you remember that?
SPEAKER_02Yes, I remember that. That's crazy. I don't know where you got that because I I haven't seen the Sonics play in a minute. I'll show y'all the back of it later, though. I just I didn't say anything when I saw the jersey. But yeah, so uh I want to say his name was Wiley Zerbiak. And then from the Sixers, it was somebody, the one from the Sixers, so we somewhere down the line we had exchanged jerseys. And uh the 76ers jersey, I gave it to South Son, uh uh Nev. Yeah. Uh that rap. X. No, um that rap, yo. Uh serious right now? So Burns, Jaha, Jaha, yo.
SPEAKER_04Jaha, Jaha.
SPEAKER_02Come on, man. I gave it to Jay.
SPEAKER_04Listen, this is a story, but it's I don't know him for rapping. I gave it for uh I don't know him for rapping. True, true for football. My bad, my bad next. I don't know him for rapping.
SPEAKER_02I know he rap, but I know what he really does. He was uh, you know, that's Neff and uh boy get it in football. But back to this jersey, we had exchanged the jersey, so it's crazy, man. I'm like, wow, that you bring me back memories, man. Yeah, yeah, that was the Seattle Supersonics.
SPEAKER_04No, that was fire. But now we got the Bro Day. What's the bro day?
SPEAKER_02We got the come on now. Come on, man. This right here, real throwback right here, yo. Shout out to Team OSM. We was out there live and direct at Bro Day Coney Island. Uh those that know, know I got 32. My son wore 32. He was out there rocking hot sauce and all of them was out there. Yes, sir. It was crazy. So salute thirteback Thursday, Bro Day, Supersonics. Um, what's up with Odell Beckham?
SPEAKER_04Odell Beckham, man. Welcome back to New York, baby. You back. And I love what you said too. I love what he said. Check out. New York is new. New York is back, baby. Listen, I ain't a Giants fan either. I ain't a Knicks fan, but one thing I could go for, I'm a hooper and I'm somebody that understands sports. And this right now is a great time for sports. Like, you the New York Knicks, like I said, is lit with New York winning. It's just something about it, yo. If the Nets was here, New Jersey would be jumping. I promise you. Just know that it was just like, it's just like the simple fact that it's the energy. It's bringing togetherness. You know what I mean? Like New York is like, that's the staple of basketball. The Mecca. That's what my pops call it. You know what I mean? If you really wanted to know if you was the best, where you go? Rucker Park, Dykman, West Forth. Where you go? Where you go? Pet League, Gaucho Gym, Kingdom, Mouse. Where you go? Come on. You go to the You go to where everybody at.
SPEAKER_02Shout out Philly too. You hear me? Let me say this, yo, because I think Teddy's, I think Teddy is giving us some kind of vibe because he picked the wrong. I told people, we did Teddy pics yesterday. Just in case y'all didn't see it. Keep tuning out on Teddy Picks right now. Y'all already know Teddy be on the set. The thing is this we never know what he's gonna do. But he's been antsy. And I think I'm gonna let him know. He's gonna hear my voice when this comes out tomorrow. Later on today, whenever it drops. Teddy wanna let everybody know who betted on him by his pick. He was sorry. Go check out his Instagram. Because you can see he bet on the Spurs. But he had a Knicks jersey on.
SPEAKER_01So y'all feel me. So he's gonna.
SPEAKER_04If y'all look at the picks and he pick a team, just look at the jersey he got on. And then you'll decide. I mean, from there. But I mean, we 0 for one. It's okay. It's okay. It's okay. Teddy picks a lot.
SPEAKER_02Teddy picks is 0 for one.
SPEAKER_04Teddy picks is 0 for one. But we want to know over here at LU Sports Show. We said the Knicks. I think it's the Knicks and 6. Yeah I mean. Knicks and six. Nixon six. It just go it just go together. Nixon six. Period. The New York energy. It's the New York energy. And then don't let them start playing. Um from New York. New York. Don't let them start playing that because then it's just jumping it, man.
SPEAKER_02Don't do that. I know they're gonna do a song. I just saw um uh uh uh the rapper, um my guy.
SPEAKER_04Oh man, yo, he be with good lux. But little Lux was in the at the Mitchell Lynette joint. That was crazy. That was crazy. But now let's talk about this though. Talk to me, man. Serena Williams back, baby. Serena Williams is back. Greatness. That's all I'm gonna say. That's all I'ma say. Serena is back. She back. She said she's coming out of a timing real quick. So that I mean, to win, to win another chip, as she always do, because it's what she do. She's the best in the world. When last time she played, I don't know. I just know it's been a while, and I know that her comeback, it's it's sparking something. Like I said, the energy is different now. It's different, it's different. And then look, every sport is starting to enhance. Everybody's growing, everything is different now. New players coming in. Like, look, look at the NBA, look at the NFL. All these young cats coming in. Back in the day, the young cats used to have to work their way to being starters and work their way to, nah, they coming in taking it. They coming in taking it every time. These young cats not scared. They not scared. They not scared to go up against LeBron. They're not scared to go up against Jalen Ramsey. They're not scared to go up against uh Pat Mahomes and all of them.
SPEAKER_02The realness coming up.
SPEAKER_04That's but that's what being a pro is about. If you Know you if you know you belong there, you're gonna do everything you need to get to stay there. Like you said, like you used to tell me all the time, getting there is one thing, but staying there is a whole nother concept because it's easy for you to go there and do everything you're supposed to do, right? But everything you supposed to do may not be enough. You gotta do more than what you're supposed to do. You may come in early, come in late, whatever, whatever it takes, watching films, sleeping at the gym, whatever. Why? Because when you get older, you're gonna realize, like, yo, I ain't take the time to do this. But you did now. You made it here. You got all these millions. You don't want to turn around and be like, yo, all my money gone because I decided to not work hard. I just thought I was gonna do it. So that's the thing. Like, it's dope, it's dope to see that sports is back to being, you just feel the grit. You feel the grit and you feel how hungry everyone is.
SPEAKER_02That's what it is. I think that's that's one of the key components that it was missing. Yeah, you know, you got the business side, you got the the uh, how can I say the technology side. But now when you start using that same energy, you start using that same energy, um like for the for the for the culture and the the fans, and once again, it's bringing people together through sports, right? Because, you know, everybody, some people bent on sports, some people like to watch it for entertainment, some people have favorite players. But when you really start seeing what sports is doing, man, bringing people together for a right time right now. Yo, think about it. Years ago we had the 9-11, New York City. You know, I'm pretty sure things happen in other towns, other cities and states, but you know, New York was like how New Orleans was. Didn't New Orleans win the um championship after the New York.
SPEAKER_04Those are moments, those are moments that's bigger than sports. That's what I'm saying. This Knicks bigger than sports. This Knicks championship, if they win this championship, man, listen, it's bigger, it's it's it's a different type of championship. Like, for instance, when the Liberty won, we was out there. New York Liberty, we was out there, parade, walking around, talking to everybody. We was out there. You know what I mean? It felt like you felt the energy though. So look, you don't think the Knicks wanna do the same thing? Like they want to win too. That's fire because now, like I said, it's bringing a spark back in athletics, period, and whole. Shout out Jason Williams, white chocolate. His daughter made it to the seven, the finals of this college world series, Texas Tech versus Texas. Yeah. Shout out, shout out both of them teams for making it that far. And y'all down the block or whatever from each other. Texas Tech versus Texas in the championship.
SPEAKER_02That's crazy.
SPEAKER_04That's a robbery within the robbery in the championship. Bringing the whole town together. Like you can't even do nothing. It's nothing else you can ask for. That's this is great for sports.
SPEAKER_02So being that we talking about the, so we're talking about the power of sports, right? Yeah. And it's, you know, the sport. Um was it two days ago? We had an opportunity. You had an opportunity to come come with me to be a part of something in Rockaway, the township of Rockaway.
SPEAKER_03Shout out Copeland Middle. Copeland Middle, Mr.
SPEAKER_02Blake Wesler and his family. We got a chance to see Unk, yo. We ain't see Unk in a minute. Yo, I got a chance to see Unk, man. Half Man, half man.
SPEAKER_04Half man, he's amazing. Listen, I love seeing my Unk, man. I love seeing everybody that that that was a part of your career. You know what I'm saying? Because I was there, but I was young. So like I was what, four, five, six, seven. I was I was young. So I was really just focused on playing basketball. I never really looked at it like, oh, these my, but they they treated me as like I was a nephew.
SPEAKER_02And you was able to see, like you said, basketball, but you was able to see where basketball took us to why we were there. Explain to them why we was there from what you got out of it.
SPEAKER_04To be honest with you, the the whole situation for that, the when we were in Rockaway, it was a it was a drug and alcohol prevention, uh, substance abuse uh combo. So it was kind of like it was a development for the children. And it was dope to see the kids interact with my dad and and my uncle and everything to hear their story because those kids, they might not go through what what we go through, but they definitely, they definitely understood the message. And one thing I I realized about about Kobold Middle School, they move with urgency. Every student that I seen walking around that school was moving with urgency. Like they had to get to the next class. The next class, I had to get to there, I got to get here, gotta get here. And it was, it felt, you felt the love from the first time you walked through the door to you till you leave. Even till now, I still feel the love. So it was. And it was 27, 27, 27, over 27 celebrities that were there. 27 celebrities. So it was easy for them to understand. Like, I don't know how to explain it. Like, it was just the kids were excited. It was it was fun because I used to do these things with my dad when I was younger. He used to go to celebrity games, playing celebrity games, and I was playing with him. Signing autographs when I was six, signing autographs when I was seven and eight. So to go back and do it again and do the same thing, it kind of brought back memories from when I was playing with my dad as a kid. Like, it was dope. And then the crazy thing about it was they had a celebrity game, and guess what? Me and my dad stepped on the court together. First play of the game, he threw me the ball to have court. It was close to half court, and I nailed it. Crazy, yo. We he assisted me the first play of the game. So it's it's something that, like, that's something that I would never have. That was something that I never I would never forget because that's something I did with my pops. You feel me? Like, it was it was a great time. It was fun, you feel me? Like, I was able to do something that I used to do when I was a kid. You know what I mean? He used to bring me everywhere. Shout out to Juni Sanders. Shout out to Juni Sanders, man. General Electric. You know what I mean? Like, it was listen, it was it was fun seeing everybody and being able to for everybody to see me now. Because nobody didn't see me since like the the the A and one mixtapes. You know what I mean? For people that don't know, I was on Volume 2 with my pops. I was on ESPN with him. You know what I mean? But it was like everybody saw me when I was little. Nobody ever seen me now that I'm taller, I'm bigger, I'm uh I'm different, but I'm still me. So it was fun to be around my uncle and my pops. And the stories, man, like listen, they got stories for years, bro. Like they they got stories for years. Like this guy, this guy could talk, they could talk for hours, man.
SPEAKER_02Somebody's gonna talk about the balcony. Oh, the balcony. Yo, man, listen, he was telling me a story, man.
SPEAKER_04This guy telling me a story, like he was too drunk. He was too drunk, he was too drunk. He outside, he thinks that he goes knock on the door to try to get into the room. So instead of him knocking on the door, opening the door, he knocked on it, and the knock pushed him off the balcony. So he thought they pushed him off the balcony. Nah, yo, so shout out to my man Roscoe.
SPEAKER_02Roscoe and Friends pushed him off the balcony. God bless you, Roscoe. But you know, I don't know, man. I thought, this is what I thought happened. All right. First of all, we were staying at one of those hotels where they don't have room service. Anybody could knock on your door. We was on the third floor. Yeah. But the balance, the rails was maybe to my waist. So we had been out. This all Adele stuff. I was with the Harlem The Wizards. And I went up to his door. This is what I think happened. I thought he pushed me. I ain't gonna front. I thought he opened his door and pushed me over the balance. I did jump a little higher than Roscoe, but that's my man got rest him and bless him. So, but what really happened was when I knocked on the door, you know, like you gotta gather yourself if you've been drinking a little bit, and you gotta like you to be one of those, like, get the gather myself. But when I went to gather myself, I gathered myself back too far, and I landed on the car. Landed right on the top. Right? So boom. So now I'm in my room. All I know is that uh Joni Sanders, uh GE came in the room because they told me, yo, go room wiley in the bunker, yo. You didn't tell me, yo, they're gonna kill him. And I was wild. I'm like, yo, what was when they push me off the balcony? I don't know who I was talking to, probably Moo and somebody. And I was just like, he was like, yo, nah, nah. He said, yo, they ain't push him off the balcony. But basketball and drinking don't mix on no level. Don't do it. To this day, right now. I got a I got a scar, I hit the car. Look, this is how crazy I was. First of all, I thought my teammate pushed me off a balcony. That's that's just crazy, right? Alcohol is involved. You know, y'all know. Yo, listen, for those that know, those that don't know, good. But for those that know, y'all know what I'm talking about. Like, let's say you gotta tighten up, as they say, like, like uh.
SPEAKER_04I usually stand up and got a gallery. But I'm gonna knock on the door.
SPEAKER_01Knock on the door, and then when you knock, you just got to gather yourself and you're ready.
SPEAKER_02So I'm gonna knock on the door, know about these nights. Mr. Ramarga would know about these nights very well. They see too. When I knock on the door to gather myself or something, it's like, uh, they're not gonna know I'm too messed up. I know I'm gonna be I'm gonna be presentable when they open the door. So I knock on the door and I did that gathering myself too much. And I landed on the car, boom. But the thing is, when I landed on the car, I rolled over and started doing push-ups. Because I was getting prepared for this guy that pushed me over this balcony, he ain't killed me. But yo, I'm gonna go, that was what my mind thought was at. You know what I mean? It's just crazy, man. Yeah. But the power of basketball.
SPEAKER_04That's the power, that's the power of basketball. Listen, basketball gets you places and it takes you places, it'll it'll it'll bring people in your life that you that you really didn't think you would meet. You know what I mean? Because basketball is special, man. Like, if you take it, like, listen, basketball treat it how you basketball treats it just as just like how you want it to. Like, if you want it to be good to you, you gotta be good to it. You know what I'm saying? If it's if you if you're not doing what you're supposed to do, but then you're trying to play ball, it's not gonna work. Because basketball, listen, one thing about basketball, all y'all young kids out there, I want y'all to listen to me, bro. Real. Basketball will give you the highest ups that you can have. But it could also give you the lowest lows you can have. And the lowest lows, it's hard to come out the lowest lows and come back to the top again. Not everybody could do it. Not everybody could dig themselves a hole and come out of it.
SPEAKER_02But that goes back to what you said. What what Coach uh Coach Hurley. Cousin B say.
SPEAKER_05Oh, cousin B, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Shout out to Coach Oh, man. Shout out to Mr. Oh, yeah, Coach Hurley, yeah. Love you, baby. With him with this event, he was one of the celebrities. But Coach B always said, told us, and you you come from uh North Rams, um, it's not what the game can do for you. What you could do for the game. This is what you can do for the game. And that's all sports. Look at that's that's life. That that court is life. That's that court is life. That's like ball for life, living life experience through ball. That's like big guard mentality, skills over size. See, people think it's all about basketball or the sport, but no, these are life gyms that we're giving you.
SPEAKER_04Like, yo, I swear, everybody thinks basketball is the skill and the physical. No, it is not. You could be the best player on the court, but if you're mental not right, you nothing. I'll tell you that now. Coach take you out the game, you get mad, you're done. It's like, yo, it's like, yo, it's like, it's like that quickly. You could be the best player on the floor, but you get mad at your coach, you snap at your coach, you do something at your coach. Now he got the opportunity to never play you again because you disrespected him doing stuff. Like I said, you can't get big headed in this situation because at the end of the day, everywhere you go, somebody gonna be better than you. Or they working harder than you.
SPEAKER_02So so that go to what? You know, I'm always, y'all already know me. Look, that goes to what? Opponents are competitors waiting for a chance to steal yours. That's it. You know, that's that's that's it. That's all it is.
SPEAKER_04That's all it is. It's a listen, you put whatever you put into basketball, that's what it's gonna give you. You feel me? If you wake up every morning, 6 a.m., 7 a.m. to get right and get work and work out, you're gonna get what you gonna you're gonna get from basketball, what you get. Like my pops know. Like my pops know. He saw me, bruh. UCC, college, juco, all of that. I used to wake up six in the morning running, trying to get myself together because I knew that my weight would be a problem, but it wasn't a problem for me. It was just a problem for coaches, it was a problem for certain things.
SPEAKER_02But you gotta look, you gotta look that part.
SPEAKER_04You gotta look the part, that's all.
SPEAKER_02But is it wait? Yo, you see what I see? What I see like the lights is flickering. Is the lights flickering? A little bit. Oh, you know what that means, right? Yo, listen, for those that don't know, when the lights flicker, yo, shout out to our sponsor for this episode.
SPEAKER_04Shout out Chevron Beauty, baby. Listen, y'all see it? I'm gonna bring it closer for y'all so y'all can see it. Look, y'all see it? Y'all wanna get y'all melanin right? Y'all wanna get right with with y'all's skin? This is where the be at, man. Listen. This ain't maybe it's Maybelline. This ain't none of that.
SPEAKER_01This that real deal. This real deal, real.
SPEAKER_02Real deal holy is a love. This ain't nobody, this don't get sent mixed. Don't get sent mixed.
SPEAKER_01Mix with love.
SPEAKER_02We'll give you a look.
SPEAKER_04We'll give you one more close-up. This is your boy Rockstar Q, man. I'm gonna leave you with this, man. Don't be this guy. You know what I mean? Cutting scenes and all that, man. But nah, yo. We love y'all. I want y'all to know that this is about to be the best. This is about to be the best year for everybody. Not just us, not just the Knicks, not just New York. You know what I mean? This is gonna be a big year for everybody. Why? Because I feel like this is the year that everybody get comfortable now. COVID over. Everybody back outside a little bit more. You know what I mean? We were stuck in the house. They had they tried to control us and get us, you know what I mean, do things that we never did. You know what I mean? So like it was kind of so now I feel like this is that, this is that year where everybody get back to being themselves. Everybody back outside and having fun and the cookouts and the family games, the spades, the dominoes, the Uno, you know what I mean? Like little stuff like that. I feel like this is that year. This is this is that summer. Summer's coming around, it's getting hot out. So listen, I just want to say, from the alley you show to your screen, we love you. We praying for you. And we just want to have fun, baby.
SPEAKER_02Yo, all of those things you say, right? I would do like they do in my church, where they say, like the um. The doors of the church is open, right? When the first lady speaks, and then when the pastor says the same thing she said. I can say the same thing he said, but um however y'all feel, whether you like the Spurs, like the Knicks, or whoever, whatever this energy y'all see or how it feels, let's try to carry that over. Um incorporate that into our everyday lives. That that energy, that positive energy you talked about, COVID. I learned something, I learned a lot from COVID. One thing was, what's the show with the dragon? I said to myself, I would I would never watch Game of Thrones. The Game of Thrones. Um, I I watched the whole Game of Thrones. That wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for COVID. So people, I was able to see people so be themselves. People was coming up with different kinds of shows and different kinds of things, and then all of a sudden it just stopped when things got back to quote unquote what they call normal. Nah, let's keep those same ideas, keep putting those same ideas out there, those different things that we was doing because we had to do it.
SPEAKER_04It took some time. Yeah. It took some time. If you think about it, like, if you think about it, right, COVID was like, COVID was like an ACL tear for everyone. Meaning, like, if you ever think about it, anybody that have ever has ever torn their ACL before, you know that, you feel me, the first year, when you come back, you don't really be yourself. Second year, ah, you kind of getting back to it. But then that third year, you you you kind of you kind of be like, all right, I'm comfortable now. Yeah. Alright, I'm here. So this is what COVID was. The first month, the first month when everybody opened their doors back up, everybody was kind of tiptoeing, tiptoeing, trying to see if they could go back outside. You know what I'm saying? Now they know the doors is open. Everything is everything is moving the way it used to move, but now you have everything that you did during COVID a part of it. So it's like it's it's like it COVID kind of enhanced you, but it also COVID also showed who's with you. You know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_02So we said we take that, we we take that scenario, we take a 9-11, we take these what the people call the catastrophic events, but now that same sadness we feel now is fueled with energy. It's fueled with energy, and I'm gonna just leave with this, man. This is the Alley Oop show. Our main event, not your ordinary alley oop, and we out. And we out tomorrow, baby.
SPEAKER_00That's the way the support goes. That's the lower sports show. You getting smaller, all you getting taller haters looking for, man. How they think they better than I for somebody to tell them they should never even drop drive. I remember late night to free up the wild five. This is what I'm all about. Radio watch that kill.
